Store policies are changing "daily" to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Check the company web site before you head out. Be aware that particular stores in the chain may have modified corporate polies even more.

Common changes MAY include:

*   Hours of Operation:
  • Opening Early - special hours for seniors/handicapped. Each company decides what minimum age is considered senior. Some are using 60. Others are using 65.
  • Closing early - These may be everyday or select days.

*   Quantity Limits:
  • Hording Prevention invoked on high-demand items such as, toilet paper, cleaning products.

*   In-Store Social Distancing:
  • Limiting the number of shoppers allowed in stores at one time to manage occupancy limits.
  • One-way flow of traffic in aisles. Directional arrows to prevent shoppers from coming face-to-face.
    Please follow the signage!
  • Floor markers at checkout lines and other high-traffic areas to keep shoppers 6 feet apart.
    Please follow the signage!

*   Additional Hygiene measures:
  • Requesting shoppers to wear masks and/or gloves to protect workers and other shoppers.
  • Banning the use of personal reusable shopping bags by some stores to reduce “vulnerable touch points."
  •  Suspending the sale of deli meat sliced to order.
  • Closing food courts, self-serve salad, olive and soup bars.
    Note: Costco shut down coffee grinders.

*   What you can do:
  • Respect store rules and other shoppers by keeping your distance and waiting your turn.
  • Wear a face mask and latex gloves. Contamination is more likely through touch.
  • Remove one glove at a time. Use the second glove to remove the first glove!
    Do not use your bare hand to remove the second glove.
  • Wash face mask (if appropriate material) and gloves when you get home.
  • Wipe down car steering wheel, keys, and door knobs, pens, styluses, etc.
  • Hand wash your reusable bags with an antibacterial cleaner, then air dry.
