Local Mission Support: Helping the West Virginia Children Impacted by the June 2016 Floods

Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church (GPC) is one of many organizations finding ways to help the West Virginia victims of the deadly flooding last month.

As part of this week's Vacation Bible School (VBS) efforts, people are being asked to donate school supplies for the  West Virginia Students which the children will create the kits over the course of this week.

School Kit Supplies Needed:

• One pair of blunt scissors, rounded tip only (please remove from packaging)
• Three 70-count bound notebooks (or notebooks totaling 200-210 pages)
• One 12 inch ruler (30 centimeters)
• One hand-held pencil sharpener (please remove from packaging)
• One large eraser (not the pencil cap erasers)
• Six, new, unsharpened pencils (please remove any erasers)
• One box of 24 count crayons (please provide this size only for consistency)

What is The YAV Experience?

   

Young Adult Volunteers or YAV is one of many missions supported by the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA). 

Age Group: 19-30 years old.

Location: Various sites around the world (Link).

Term of Service: One Academic Year (August through July).

Goal:  Grow as a leader putting faith in action while serving a local community.

Attention Montgomery County Low-Income Seniors 

County Residents 55 and older with low-incomes may qualify for discounted dental services.

Once you qualify, the services are available monthly March through May 2016.
