The Montgomery Philharmonic is a community orchestra based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. They are dedicated to providing opportunities to enjoy, explore, and create music. They played at Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church on December 16th and a great time was had by all. They are open to opportunities to play more. Gaithersburg's Character Counts Scholarships for 2013


 
 
High School seniors who are residents of the City of Gaithersburg are encouraged to apply for a 2013 CHARACTER COUNTS! scholarship. 

Deadline is 4 p.m. on March 1, 2013.

Applicants must be high school seniors who will be pursuing post high school education at a college, university or trade school and who are residents of the City of Gaithersburg.
 
This scholarship is intended for exceptional individuals who embody the Six Pillars of Character:

  1. Trustworthiness,
  2. Respect,
  3. Responsibility,
  4. Fairness,
  5. Caring, and
  6. Citizenship.
 
Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the selection committee. Previous scholarships have ranged from $1,500 to $3,000. Notifications will be made by May 13, 2013. Checks will be presented at a Mayor and City Council meeting in May 2013.

About the Gaithersburg HELP:
Founded in 1968, Gaithersburg HELP is staffed entirely by volunteers and relies on donations from 19 member congregations as well as private individuals and businesses. Its mission is to provide emergency assistance to Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village residents.
In 2011, Gaithersburg HELP distributed 3,400 three to five day food packages, paid for over 800 medications, and provided 600 rides to medical/social service appointments for Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village residents in need.

Featuring Alpha 4 Handbells

About the Concert:

Alpha 4 is a local four-in-hand handbell group that uses interlocking handbell techniques so that each person is holding and playing four to six bells simultaneously. The group’s repertoire includes classical, seasonal, patriotic and folk tunes.

Admission is a donation of $5.00 or more to Gaithersburg HELP and (optional) food donation for the pantry.

Food donations should be healthy, nutritious foods, high in fiber and low in sugar and salt. Please check expiration dates; no expired items can be accepted.
